Talatu J.shanwa

Executive Director

Mrs. Talatu J. Shwanwa is an enthusiastic public health specialist. Talatu holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Social works from University of Jos Nigeria. She has over 15 years of progressive experience in community health programs particularly in community engagement and mobilization. Her passion for humanity has given birth to Jomurota, an organization that has touched thousands of lives and communities in all spheres of life. 

Community Impact:

Mrs. Talatu has led Team members in implementation of impactful health programs that have improved the health system.  Her initiative (Jomurota) has made significant impacts in empowerment of vulnerable households to attain economic resilience, health awareness and prevention programs that have improved health outcomes. This initiative has also provided job opportunities to over 200 youth/individual  there by solving the problem of unemployment.

Hange Tarember Solomon

Program Manager

Hange Tarember Solomon has over 10 years of progressive experience in community health program management with back ground in Monitoring and Evaluation. He holds a Bachelor Degree in History & Diplomatic Studies from University of Abuja. He has led multiple initiatives like PEPFAR OVC program implemented by Centers for Disease control (CDC) through Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), Global Fund Community TB Active Case search & DRTB adherence community treatment support aimed at improving access to healthcare in underserved areas, specializing in Project Management. Solomon is dedicated to empowering communities through education and resources mobilization.

Community Impact:

Hange Solomon has led Team members in implementation of impactful health programs such as the Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) program from 2012 till date. A program targeted at contributing to USAID’s 95-95-95 HIV treatment objective through which communities are impacted through: Health support programs by sensitization and treatment adherence support to promote HIV viral suppression, promote access to good nutrition through food support & awareness, breaking barriers to education through school fees support, provision of school structures. Empowerment of vulnerable households through business support initiatives, ensuring safe environment for children and their caregivers   as well as promoting emotional support through psycho-social community activities. 

Dukyoon Mary Matoes

 Admin & Finance Officer 

Dukyoon Mary Matoes is a seasoned and well trained accountant with over 15 years of banking experience.Having obtained her certificate of Chartered Accountants from the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)She obtained her Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the prestigious Kaduna State Polytechnic and also a post graduate Diploma in the same course from the University of Abuja.She belongs to the Association of Accredited Management Trainers with certificate on Basic management Development Training and Advanced management Training Development obtained from The Center for Management Development.

Community Impact:

Dukyoon Mary Matoes has Increased Financial Awareness of the beneficiaries in the community.Participants gained a better understanding of financial concepts, helping them make informed decisions about their finances. Improved Financial Stability: Many attendees learned how to create and stick to a budget, leading to improved financial stability for their households. Support for Small Businesses: Small business owners received advice on financial management, which helped them optimize their operations and grow their businesses. Long-term Benefits: The knowledge shared in the workshops empowered individuals to plan for long-term goals such as buying a home, saving for education, or retirement.

Ibrahim Jerry

Education and Protection Officer

Extra mile sociologist, brand thought leader, teens’ coach, cinematographer, disaster management personnel and social educator.

Ibrahim Jerry holds a Bachelor degree in Sociology (Honors) and a Executive Diploma in Disaster Management. He has worked with few Not-for-Profit organizations in making indelible impacts. Currently working on the OVC project (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) as the Education and Protection Officer Saddle with the responsibilities of implementing protection policies and educational programs.

Community Impact:

Making indelible impact is the driving force of the organization and one of such project that has put a smile and made positive mark in the community is the enactment of The Child Protection Committee. Enlightening the community gatekeepers and general populace of the community on the importance of creating a safe environment for a child’s growth and development in all facets was carried out in communities like Paikon-Kore, Gwagwalada Central, Sabon Gari and Dukpa. In the same vein, Child Birth Certificate of more than 2,000 vulnerable children was processed; this includes registration and issuing.

Omoboyo Ayodele Sunday

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer 

As a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a degree in Pure and Applied Physics, I possess a broad set of skills that cut across various sectors, including industrial, information, and communication technology. With two years of progressive experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Reporting, I have developed expertise in framework design, M&E plan development, data tools design, database management, data collection, and analysis. I have a proven track record of delivering high-quality assignments within set timeframes and achieving organizational targets through hard work and dedication. I serve as a Monitoring, Evaluation Officer at JOMUROTA Community Care Initiative, where I lead the development and implementation of M&E systems, conduct data analysis, and provide capacity building support to M&E teams.

Community Impact:

The Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Project, ASPIRE Project, and Jomurota Community Care Initiative (JCCI) have significantly enhanced the health and well-being of OVC in the community by improving data quality, case management, and decision-making processes. Through regular field visits, household verifications, and the development of monitoring tools, the initiatives strengthened data collection and analysis, leading to more effective program management. Capacity-building efforts provided training for M&E teams, enumerators, volunteers, and facility staff, enhancing their skills and ensuring compliance with guidelines. As a result, the projects have empowered community-based teams, improved data integrity, and contributed to better health outcomes for vulnerable children in the region.

Zuhumnan Peter Kumbet

Program Officer, Household Hold Economic Strengthening (HES)

As a Household Economic Strengthening Program Officer, Peter brings over 5 years of experience in the community health and development, with focus on economic empowerment and poverty reduction. His professional background includes the program management, community engagement, and capacity building for program sustainability, with key skills in financial literacy, entreneurship, and social behavior change communication. Notably, he successfully designed and implemented a village savings and loan programs in 10 communities of the FCT, increasing household incomes by 60 percent and improving health outcomes of over 7,000caregivers beneficiaries. 

Community Impact:

As a Household Economic Strengthening (HES) Program Officer, Peter contributed to the ‘Rural Empowerment’ project, which aimed to enhance economic stability and self-sufficiency among vulnerable households through entrepreneurship training, financial education, and access to resources. The project targeted over 8,000 beneficiaries, providing business training to more than 5,000 OVC beneficiaries and mentorship to 3,000 individuals. Key achievements included facilitating micro-loans, creating 11 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), and empowering 1,000 caregivers with conditional cash transfers. By establishing partnerships with stakeholders and government agencies, the initiative ensured long-term sustainability.

Yashim Abigail

Adolescent, Gender and Psychosocial Officer

A dedicated Adolescent, Gender and Psychosocial officer who is committed to promoting equitable access and support for individuals of all genders. With a background in social work (M.Sc) and Political Science (B.Sc), my focus lies in fostering inclusive environment and addressing unique challenge faced by adolescents through advocacy and strategic interventions.

Community Impact:

DREAMS project for adolescent girls which is a project in partnership with IHVN (Institute of Human Virology) along with CDC (Center for Disease Control) Nigeria/ PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan  For AIDS Relief) Organization. It is a project specifically targeted at adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Nigeria age 10-24 who are disproportionately affected or infected by HIV/AIDS. The project focuses on addressing the structural drivers that increases girls’ and young women’s vulnerability to HIV/AIDS such as poverty, gender inequality, sexual violence and lack of access to education. The key component of the project is education, economic empowerment, HIV/AIDS prevention, health services/referrals and community mobilization. The project creates a supportive environment for adolescent girls and young women, reducing their risk of HIV infection and empowering them lead healthy lives. This project have impacted the lives of over 200 adolescent girls within Gwagwalada area council in FCT (Abuja) from the period of it implementation.
